Book Your Vaccination Now
We’re here to help you beat the virus. The sooner we vaccinate ourselves, the quicker we can beat the virus.
There are three vaccines currently (24th Jan 2021) approved for protection against Covid-19 in the UK.
All three vaccines are approved for use in the UK by the MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency). The Pfizer/BioNTech and AstraZeneca vaccines have no animal products in their ingredients according to the MHRA.
We are offering the AstraZeneca vaccine developed in Oxford, UK and the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.
COVID-19 is caused by the Sars CoV 2 virus. These vaccines work by stimulating the body’s natural immune system to produce antibodies to protect against Covid-19.
The vaccines are offered in 2 doses between 4 and 12 weeks apart and you must take the same vaccine to complete your vaccine immunisation.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please speak to your doctor or healthcare clinic if you can have the vaccine.
In the UK the vaccines are being rolled out in level of priority, with the eldest being the most vulnerable offered immunisation first. This is a tiered roll out based upon age.
Once you have been given the vaccine, you will still need to wear a mask and continue following the strict lockdown guidelines. This is because the vaccine does not become effective immediately and your body can take 3 weeks or more to produce the antibodies to protect you against Covid-19.
For long lasting immunity you will need to take a second dose of the vaccine 11-12 weeks later.
It is important to attend your appointment for the vaccine and whilst it is not compulsory, the vaccine will help you protect yourself and others from Covid-19.
The vaccine is still effective against all the known variants of Covid-19.
For more information on the individual vaccines please follow the link to the MHRA website for each vaccine. For more information we recommend you speak to your GP or healthcare clinic.
